How to Apply

Nominations are now being accepted for the 2010 ACCT Awards!

Recipients will be announced at the 2010 ACCT Community College Leadership Congress in Toronto, Canada, October 20-23, 2010.


WHO MAY NOMINATE
Regional Awards nominations may be made by a two-year postsecondary institution board, a state board for community colleges, a board of a state trustee association, or a university board of regents that control the two-year postsecondary institutions in that state. All boards submitting nominations must be ACCT members.

SELECTION PROCESS
Each awards committee is composed of trustees and presidents from states throughout the region. ACCT’s Regional Chair serves as committee chair. Regional Awards recipients will also be considered for ACCT’s Annual Association Awards. (For a nomination to be considered from an awards committee member’s college, the member will not be permitted to vote for the respective award.)

HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR NOMINATION
ACCT accepts awards nominations through the online awards portal, e-mail, mail, and fax. All nominations must be received by July 2, 2010 to be considered.

VIA ONLINE AWARDS PORTAL
Interested participants may click HERE to submit a nomination through the online awards portal.  Nominations must be submitted by July 2, 2010.

VIA E-MAIL
Nominations will also be accepted via e-mail.  Please send nominations to awards@acct.org.  You should receive an e-mail confirmation from ACCT within 3-business days of submission.  Please contact ACCT if you do NOT receive an e-mail confirmation. E-mails must be submitted by July 2, 2010.

VIA MAIL
Nominations will also be accepted via mail (return receipt requested). Please mail nominations to - ACCT Awards, 1233 20th Street, NW, Suite 301, Washington, DC 20036 - Shipping costs are the responsibility of the sender. Materials must be postmarked by July 2, 2010.

VIA FAX
Nominations will also be accepted via fax.  Please fax nominations to 1-202-775-4451.  Faxes must be submitted by July 2, 2010.

PROCEDURE FOR SUBMITTING NOMINATIONS
In order for a nomination to be considered, the following items must be included (Packets may not exceed six pages):

  • A cover letter from the board outlining board support.
  • Materials accompanying the cover letter cannot be more than five pages long (8.5” x 11” paper).
  • Answer the questions under the “Criteria” in the order listed. At least one paragraph
    covering each question is required.
  • A nominee’s résumé of no more than two pages may accompany the official nomination (not
    required); however, a résumé will be considered part of the six-page total. Not included in the six-page nomination packet, but required for a nomination to be considered:
  • A narrative statement not to exceed 150 words explaining the nominee’s qualifications and
    suitable for use in ACCT publicity materials.
  • A color photo of the nominee to be used in ACCT publicity materials. If submitting electronically (preferred), please ensure that the photo is at least 300 dpi. If submitting a hard copy photo, please ensure that the photo is at least 4” x 6” in size.

RULES
Only the first complete set of nomination materials received for a nominee will be forwarded to the committee. Only one nomination (nominee) per category will be accepted from any institution board.
