Workshop for Professional Board Staff (PBSN)

Take part in a workshop intended to increase your leadership and working relationship skills in the community college. Participants will gain knowledge of legislative issues affecting community colleges today, hear diverse perspectives on women in higher education leadership, learn successful networking ideas from Iowa’s community college presidents’ assistants, and see the results and statistics from the latest survey taken by ACCT’s Professional Board Staff Network. Staff who provide support to the board of trustees/president will not want to miss this special session.

Roundtable for Community College Lawyers

This interactive session will cover the latest trends in legal issues facing community college boards, including effective monitoring and handling of litigation, free speech issues, ADA issues, Supreme Court action on Affirmative Action in Higher Education, legal ethics, and the top five areas of legal vulnerability facing community colleges. Continuing legal education credit is available (now approved in 15 states).

Town Hall Meeting on Combating Poverty & Community Colleges: A Call to Action!

ACCT’s town hall meeting is an interactive session open to all Congress attendees on the critical role that community colleges play in combating poverty through educational opportunities while also addressing pressing social issues including the growing economic gap, digital divide, the missing minority male, and the growing need for remedial education.

Welcome Reception featuring the Medgar Evers College Jazz Ensemble

Enjoy delightful light fare and an opportunity to meet colleagues while also listening to classic jazz performed by the Jazz Ensemble from Medgar Evers College. The Ensemble will provide entertainment under the direction of Professor Roman G. Mitchell.


The Association of Community College Trustees is Proud to Present the

9th Leadership Academy

The Academy prepares senior administrators to become presidents and it is also designed for current community
college presidents who are looking to move on to their
second presidency. The upcoming Leadership Academy
will have a dual focus:

  1. The search process: improving interviewing skills, strengthening application materials, etc.; and
  2. Reporting to and working with community college trustees.

The Leadership Academy will be facilitated by nationally recognized search consultants and Dr. Narcisa Polonio, ACCT, Vice President, Research, Education and Board Leadership Services. Cost: $525
