Traveling to NYC

New York City covers an area of over 300 square miles and has a population of over 8 million people in the city and 21 million in the metropolitan area. New York, “the city that never sleeps,” is an exciting vibrant city that has many attractions: museums, arts and culture, festivals, theaters, parks, gardens, historical landmarks, diverse architecture, great sports entertainment and numerous concert venues.

ACCT Headquarters Hotel

The New York Marriott Marquis Hotel is the headquarters hotel for ACCT’s Congress

Special note for Congress attendees: When making your travel and hotel arrangements, please note that the ACCT program will adjourn on Saturday, November 1 at noon. ACCT’s reserved block of hotel rooms at the beginning and end of the Leadership Congress is limited. As a result, hotel rooms on Tuesday, October 28, and Saturday, November 1, may not be available at ACCT’s conference rates. If you desire hotel rooms for either of those nights, you may be placed in an overflow hotel that is close to the Marriott Marquis Times Square. It is recommended that you confirm your hotel reservation before finalizing your travel arrangements. Parking

Valet parking: $50 car/$60 SUV/$75 oversize vehicle. There is a $10 service fee for in/out access to the garage. No motorcycles.

Transportation and Travel Information

For those traveling by air, NYC is served by LaGuardia Airport (LGA), John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) in neighboring New Jersey.

John F. Kennedy International Airport is New York’s largest. It is approximately 15 miles from midtown Manhattan.

LaGuardia Airport is New York’s second-largest airport, serving more than 20 airlines to mostly domestic destinations, Canada and the Caribbean. It is on the northern shore of Queens, directly across the East River about 9 miles from midtown Manhattan.

Newark Airport, servicing 47 airlines, is across the Hudson River from New York City, 16 miles and 45-60 minutes from Midtown.

Penn Station

New York City’s Penn Station is on Manhattan’s West Side, just below Midtown 31st to 33rd Streets between Seventh and Eighth Avenues. The station is serviced by Amtrak, Long Island Railroad and New Jersey Transit, PATH. Penn Station is a short taxi ride to the Marriott Marquis Times Square.

Grand Central Station

Grand Central is on New York's East Side at 42nd Street and Park Avenue. This is the main station for train service provided by Metro-North Railroad. Currently the second-largest commuter line in the United States, Metro-North operates from Grand Central Terminal to 119 stations in New York, Connecticut, and New Jersey. Grand Central Station is a short taxi ride to the Marriott Marquis Time Square.

Amtrak

Amtrak is the country’s national passenger railroad. It operates seven days a week, with destinations throughout the United States. Call 800-872-7245 or 212-630-6400.

Taxi

Taxi fares to and from LaGuardia Airport are approximately $35 per person each way. Fares to and from John F. Kennedy International Airport are approximately $45 per person each way. Fares to and from Newark Airport are approximately $50 to $75 per person each way.
