ACCT Board of Directors
ALL ACCT Nominating Committees will meet during the Community College National Legislative Summit (NLS) to interview and select nominees for the ACCT Board of Directors. The NLS is scheduled for February 10-13, 2008 at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel in Washington, DC. Nominating Committee meetings are scheduled on Sunday, February 10, beginning at 3:30 p.m. Each member of the Board of Directors at the time of election must be a member of a Voting Member. Voting Members are defined as Governing and advisory boards of accredited community based postsecondary educational institutions that primarily offer programs other than baccalaureate, graduate and professional degrees, including boards of state systems that include such institutions. Candidates who plan to come beforea nominating committee are required to notify the ACCT president at the Washington, DC office in writing of intent to run. Notification must be received with a return receipt postmark date of Tuesday, January 9, 2008 or by electronic mail (preferred method) by the close of business on Tuesday, January 9, 2008.
Official notification from candidates shall consist of:
- A letter of declaration to run for office;
- A letter of support from the individual’s board;
- A one-page resume that should focus on community college related service and other civic activities, and may include brief information on education and occupation;
- A narrative statement, not to exceed 150 words, on qualifications (for inclusion in voting materials to be printed);
- A 5” x 7” head and shoulders photo, preferably color (photos will not be returned) or electronically - 300 DPI or higher; and
- An optional single letter of support from an ACCT member board. This letter of support must be limited to one page.
The ACCT president will send candidate information received within the prescribed postmarked deadline to each member of the appropriate Regional Nominating Committee for receipt by February 1, 2008. Director-at-large nominations will be accepted until July 1, 2008.
