2021 ACCT Regional Awardees Announced

Regional Awardees to Compete for National-level Recognition Friday, October 15 at the Annual ACCT Leadership Congress

WASHINGTON - The Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT) is pleased to announce the recipients of its annual Regional Awards for community college trustees, equity programs, chief executive officers, faculty members, and professional board staff members. The 2021 ACCT Awards program is sponsored by Edamerica.

ACCT's Regional Awards recognize the tremendous contributions made by community colleges and their leaders to meet the needs of their communities. 

"Community colleges and their leaders make tremendous contributions to their communities and tirelessly work to change students' lives for the better," said ACCT Chair and Mohawk Valley Community College Trustee David Mathis. "We at ACCT are proud to be able to shine a spotlight on outstanding institutions and individuals through the ACCT Awards program."

"The 2021 ACCT awardees have worked tirelessly through challenging times to make their institutions and students the best they can be," said ACCT President and CEO J. Noah Brown. "We're grateful for their work and we are thrilled to celebrate their accomplishments."

2021 Regional Trustee Leadership Award Recipients

CENTRAL REGION: Thomas Milligan, Edison State Community College, Ohio

NORTHEAST REGION: Victor M. Richel, Union County College, N.J.

PACIFIC REGION: Demion Clinco, Pima County Community College District, Ariz.

SOUTHERN REGION: George Little, Sandhills Community College, N.C.

WESTERN REGION: Gigi Edwards Bryant, Austin Community College District, Texas

CENTRAL REGION: Madison Area Technical College, Wis. 

NORTHEAST REGION: Hudson County Community College, N.J.

CENTRAL REGION: Rebecca McNulty,  Southcentral Kentucky Community & Technical College, Ky.

NORTHEAST REGION: Cynthia Gruskos, Brookdale Community College, N.J.

PACIFIC REGION: Margaret Lamb,  San Diego Community College District, Calif. 
SOUTHERN REGION: Sara Kleinpeter, Louisiana Community & Technical College System, La.

Individuals and colleges recognized at the regional level will contend for the national-level recognition of the following ACCT Association Awards: 

  • 2021 M. Dale Ensign Trustee Leadership Award; 
  • 2021 Charles Kennedy Equity Award; 
  • 2021 Marie Y. Martin Chief Executive Award; 
  • 2021 William H. Meardy Faculty Member Award; and 
  • 2021 ACCT Professional Board Staff Member Award.  

One outstanding award recipient in each category will be announced during the Annual ACCT Awards Gala on Friday, October 15 at the Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego, in conjunction with the 2021 ACCT Leadership Congress
