Lone Star College System, TX
I was raised by my parents in rural Louisiana. Both parents were functionally illiterate. Despite this, they put forth a special effort to make sure all eight of their children had access to an education. My parent’s motto could be described today as, “EDUCATION IS THE PASSPORT TO THE FUTURE, FOR TOMORROW BELONGS TO THOSE WHO PREPARE FOR IT TODAY”. As a result of my parent’s efforts and philosophy, five of my eight siblings have advanced college degrees.
When I retired in 1998 from Shell Oil Company, I returned to school for my Doctorate. Since that time, I have been totally immersed in my second career as a teacher, school principal/administrator, adjunct professor, Aldine Independent School Board Member and Lone Star College Board of Trustees – Board Chair.
I will devote my remaining years utilizing my industry and education experiences to make the United States a better place for all citizens.
