Pacific Regional Chair
State Center Community College District, CA
I understand the struggles of community college students. Born into an immigrant family where English was my second language, I became the first in my family to graduate college. I am a proud graduate of Fresno City College (A.A.), Fresno State (B.A.), and Fresno Pacific University (M.A). I currently serve as the Board President of State Center Community College District. My 39 years in education with 22 of those years in administrative leadership positions has prepared me to be student-centered and focused on student access, persistence and success. Active both nationally and state-wide, I have served as an ACCT State Coordinator, a Latino Caucus board member, and an ACCT Nominating Committee member. I have also served as a CCLC Latino Caucus Officer.
Active in the community, I also spend time mentoring students. I regularly visit elected officials to advocate on behalf of community colleges and have assisted in the passage of a $485 million facilities bond.
