Dr. Monty Sullivan has had an exceptional career of service leveraging the two-year college to lift people and grow the American middle class. In January 2026 Dr. Sullivan retired from the role of President of the Louisiana Community and Technical College System (LCTCS) a position he held for twelve years. In that span, he led efforts to build a sustainable workforce system serving the needs of people and industry for generations to come. Dr. Sullivan has extensive experience across two state systems and a variety of institutions in aligning college resources and offerings to meet the regional workforce demand, building and maintaining a leadership team, managing major financial change, major capital improvement efforts, navigating college mergers and leading state and federal policy to grow America’s middle class.
Prior to his service as President, he served as Chancellor of Delgado Community College in New Orleans. He also served as Executive Vice President for the LCTCS. Before joining the LCTCS, Sullivan served as Vice Chancellor for Academic Services and Research for the Virginia Community College System.
Monty is married to Kelley Miles Sullivan, a Registered Nurse and a graduate of Bright Point Community College (formerly John Tyler Community College). The couple has four daughters, four grandsons and two granddaughters.
